Before the Road Splits

An independently produced Indigenous documentary filmed in one of the most remote regions of the Canadian Arctic — created without sponsorship, and captured while leading a student crew into real-time, on-location production.

Before the Road Splits explores the arrival of modern infrastructure in Tuktoyaktuk, a fly-in community now connected by road for the first time. Told through the voices of youth and elders, the film reflects on what is gained, and what is lost, when isolation ends.
